I’ve mostly been working on commissions and studies recently!
And here’s a couple asks about studies, style, and future plans!
when you chose scenes from movies do you watch the whole movie and pick out scenes on the way? Or do you jump around and find scenes you like? ^ ^
I watch the whole movie through and if I’m really into the visuals I’ll play it over again and pause every time it comes to a scene with a composition/colors that interests me (:
I’m curious to know if you’ve always been using photoshop and that’s just become your “style”-Or have you ever tried using illustrator? I’m not sure what to invest my beginning time in as I’m still learning and don’t have the fine art skills acquired from the painting style, but have made things in photoshop using blocks of color and avoiding the brushes.
Yeah I really only use PS, I’ve tried illustrator a few times but it’s not very intuitive for me and doesn’t usually suit the work I want to do. What you should invest your time in just depends on where you want to take your work - if you want to paint, of course you have to dedicate time to learning that. But if you prefer working in illustrator, lots of people do spectacular work with it too!
Hi Sarah! Do you ever lineart in your works?
Hi! I love doing lineart, it’s pretty visible in most of my work from before this year. If I’m working on an intricate/architectural piece it’s really useful. But it can be constraining too, so I’ve been trying some new things lately.. and skipping it really speeds up my work flow. But it’s something I want to use more!
Wow, your art flippin’ fantastic! Once you graduate, what kind of work do you see yourself doing? Have you ever considered making a comic?
Hi, thanks! I really want to get into visual development/concept art!! Not necessarily after I graduate (: Yeah! I started drawing mostly because I wanted to make a comic haha. I’d really like to make some someday, maybe collaborating with somebody though since my story writing is pretty weak!
